System Requirements

ParaLaw is installed in two parts (two programs). The "Server", which is only installed once, usually on the server computer in your office.... and the "Workstation", which is installed on each of the other computers in your office. The requirements for both of the programs are listed below. Also, these are the suggested "minimum" requirements.

ParaLaw "Server"

The ParaLaw Server should be installed on a computer that all your other computers can "see" on the network. In addition, it should be a fairly fast, high performance computer. All of the database requests such as searches and edits are performed by the server. So if the server is installed on a computer that runs slowly, then all of your workstations will run slowly as well.

Windows Server 2003/2008/2012

Windows 7 (Professional/Enterprise/Ultimate)

Windows Vista (Business/Enterprise/Ultimate)

Windows XP Professional

Notes:

1) Versions older than Windows XP are not supported.

2) You should avoid installing the ParaLaw Server on any Home or Media versions of Windows. This is particularly important if you are installing a network version.

3) Both 32-bit and 64-bit operating systems are supported.

4) All service packs should be applied.

Remote Access:
In order to have your workstations access the ParaLaw database remotely over an internet connection, your server will need either a static IP address (port forwarded to the ParaLaw Server), or a VPN (Virtual Private Network). You may wish to check with an IT consultant to find out which solution works best for you.
